First-year Anniversary Blog

A year ago today I had officially published my first blog. I started blogging with no clue about my journey. I am not a great writer so often you can catch me with some grammar errors. But the idea here is to inspire and the content is more important.

THE IDEA
I thank my sister for giving me this idea. On one of her visits to Chennai she enjoyed the shopping experience with me. And told me that if I can style her so beautifully then why not others. Then on one of my sleepless night, the BLOG idea came to reality.

INSPIRATION
There are some other bloggers who have inspired me. One of my most favorite is TANESHA AWASTHI -GIRL WITH CURVES. My mother encourages me to work hard with passion. With the values and ethics given by my father, I follow my aspirations every-day.

EXPERIENCES-one year later
“SO FAR SO GOOD”. I started with very little expectation. But so far I have built a client list of 30 people for my profile as a personal shopper and stylist. It was a pleasure to hear when one of the plus-sized said “I didn’t know that I could get my size readymade clothes. I have 2600 followers on Instagram and 1500 friends on Facebook. I also had my pictures featured in leading newspaper like TOI page 3 many times.

WHATS NEXT FOR THE BLOG
I have a lot of ideas on where to take this blog in the second year but it will be great if I ask you audience most importantly. What would you like me to blog upon? You can Choose any topics Beauty, Recipes, Fashion or Lifestyle. Look for more this year.

I Love Linen

I went to AUROVILLE for the long weekend. AUROVILLE in its simplicity, is a haven for a refreshing break. I came across Matri Mandir, which is in the middle of the town and is a place to do meditation. The visitor centre has a sell out for handcrafted Accessories, Clothes, Soap, Candles, Organic products, Home baked breads and many more . I shopped for this beautiful linen hand painted dress from TO BE TWO. I styled it for a evening tea party.

Black And White

Hello Everyone,
How is the year 2017 guys? We are already in December and wish it to be as good as the rest of the year .It went by really fast like “swish-swish along with many Black and White moments. This year I started my BLOG which I never thought even in my dreams. Thanks to all love and support you guys. Black and White outfits are one of my favorites I find them easiest to style and they pretty much work for every occasion.

This fleece dress top I picked from a recent pop –up in Chennai. Yas guys we find a lot of good stuff while shopping in pop ups that happen these days .I don’t miss out even one of them.I live near the coast where the climate is pretty much same through the year .I get to wear winter clothes while traveling.So this look is from my recent family holiday to Kashmir.

White Party Dress for Plus Size

HI GUYS,
Breaking “stereo types” for a plus size body type.Being a plus size we are always apprehensive wearing the neutral colour white and usually asked to wear black. But in this blog Im breaking the stereo type and showing you guys the look in white for a shimmering party. White is classic colour,it’s a must have in your wardrode in the form of shirt and t-shirt. When it comes to dressing up its always fun for me and trying different styles in every occasion. White is very elegant and looks beautiful in the morning asw ell as in the evening. The whole point is that if you are comfortable in any attire you can carry it beautifully and confidently.

The lace stretch is from ALL PLUS STORE in Express Avenue Mall- Chennai. Pairing it up with a shimmery long shrug for layering can add the bling to a party look.(M&S in Express Avenue Mall-Chennai). Hi Guys,

This is a party look from one of my favourite brands “Affamado Curvy”. I recently hosted a pop-up show for plus size women in Chennai, with them.

I curated this look for my birthday, with the colour #Red . I just think that this color attracts a lot of attention and you can be a real show stopper with it when worn right.

Also, I let my hair down for this look. A nice haircut with layers of bangs in front can help reduce its bulkiness and give a slimming effect.

Dressing Up and Shopping

HI GUYS!!!!!!!!
Dressing up and shopping are the biggest challenges for a plus size . Somehow I manage to almost get there -thanks to my body type. I wear the same size for the top and bottom. Each one has a different body type it is very important to understand your body type before styling .For those who have a bigger bottom I suggest them to wear one size big at the bottom and for those who are heavy at the top I suggest them to wear one size bigger at the top. In this blog Iam sharing a smocking off shoulder printed long dress. I have something for prints that are same and all over the dress. It’s in this cotton fabric from M&S store in Express Avenue Mall Chennai.It can be styled for a beach look OR to lunch with friends.

We all know that Chennai has a humid weather can only wear a few fabrics to feel comfy all day long.This look will go well at work too with a basic t-shirt (black or white) from M&S. I like wearing shrugs so for this look I wore a georgette shrug from 109f at a lunch.

Feel good inside that will show on the outside.

STRIPER TE PARTY!!!

HI GUYS!!!!

As Plus Size Girls, we are very often told to say a big NO to bold prints,stripes and geometrical patterns. I saw a a pretty dress in Navy Blue, the other day when I had gone shopping. But the sad part was it had horizontal stripes.But, Voila! When I tried out the dress it looked fabulous. So guys, don’t be apprehensive about any look. Instead try it out and it may completely surprise you. Last evening my ladies group had “stripe”r tea-party and I was super excited to wear this dress. I’m sharing some pics of the classic look. By the way guys the dress is from the new collection, 9 to 9 fashion from Westside and I also wore with slimming shorts under the dress.

HI GUYS
At an event organised by mac in collaboration with mesmerys makeup met the GURU Himself Mickey Contractor. The “meet and greet” event at ExpressAvenue Mall Chennai.
For those of you,who don’t know mickey contractor,he is the name for Mac cosmetics in India. He is the one who has been there in the industry since the Bollywood Diva’s like Rekha,Madhuri,Sridevi to Alia Bhat.
Guys,the only man who introduced a lipstick palette like Meher , Yash both are bestselling lipcolour in the Indian market. Meher is his wife’s name which is pink nude shade, Yash is an ode to a dear producer who is very close to Mickey . Still waiting for the launch of new shades at Mac.

Since I represent PLUS SIZE was there at the event and had to take tips from the man himself.

1) Firstly he said wear your confidence , so what that he is also bald.a
2) No contouring , leave the face one colour .
3) Hair plays an important role get a nice haircut which suits.
4) Highlight the eyes lips and high cheek bones.
